News: Looking for females who are in the pure female lines (mother to daughter) from William and Sarah who are willing to do an mtDNA test. Such a person would be descended along an all female line from Mary DEVIN Biggers or Margaret DEVIN Reynolds. The hope is to identify the markers for Sarah SMITH Devin to help identify her parents. Contact the webmaster if interested.

Devin descendant, Stanley Wayne Devin, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2014. He was the last living child of Ira & Oleta Devin.

      • Page 55 — William Cook, 400 acres (plot)
Survey recorded 13.November.1757 for William Cook by P.S.Walton. Contains 400 acres on both sides of Bannister River. Note: This survey is listed because it is referenced in other Devin surveys. This land was later acquired by William Devin, Sr., and was divided as part of his estate.

Transcribed by David Devin on 07.May.1999 from Survey Book 1 page 55 at the Pittsylvania County, Virginia Courthouse. The survey was evidently copied from Halifax County Virginia records. My appologies for any mistakes interpreting the handwriting. The survey is added to Devin Timber because it is the basis of a survey for William Devin. Later, William Devin took possession of this land and it was divided in the will of William Devin, Sr.
Note: The metes and bounds information was included in the survey sketch rather than a written description. The written description of the plot is my construction from the sketch.

      • Page 102 — Philmon Green Survey

The following survey was transcribed from Pittsylvania County, Virginia Survey Book 1 page 102 by David Devin on 02.January.2000. The survey is undated, but is among other surveys dated in 1762 and 1763. The survey apparently was copied from the Halifax County, Virginia survey books as Pittsylvania County did not exist until 1767. This land was later granted to Jacob Aaron by the Virginia Land Office.
