He had operated a hardware store and at the time of his death was Vice-President of the Harrisburg Bank and Chairman of the Board of the Lebanon Bank and a member of the Board of the Citizens Bank of Albany, Oregon. He was a past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star and Past Master Masonic Lodge of Harrisburg.
