He was a blacksmith at Mount Holly, VT. Vol I of the Land Records for Mount Holly says that "Elijah Peck of Ashford, County of Windham State of Conneticutt" sold land in Mount Holly on 3 Oct 1801. (Mount Holly was formed from a gore and part of Wallingford and Ludlow in 1792, and earlier records can't be found for Mount Holly.) On 15 Sep 1804, Job Peck (Elijah's oldest son) sold land to Elijah Peck and both were of Mount Holly.

[The land record information was sent by Carroll R. Tarbell, Mount Holly Town Clerk, on 6 Dec 1977 to Dorothea Heid. Mr. Tarbell has written a town history of Mount Holly which Marg McEuen purchased in 1992, shortly after Mr. Tarbell's death.]
One source says he died 19 Feb 1805. This may have meant that he was buried then.

Elijah married Sarah Bradley on 10 Apr 1781 in Cheshire, New Haven, Connecticut. Sarah (daughter of Jabez Bradley and Esther Beach) was born on 29 Nov 1760 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut; died in in Mount Holly, Rutland, Vermont U.S.A.. [Group Sheet]

Amarilla was the daughter of Elijah Peck and Sarah Bradley. They had moved to Mount Holly from New Haven, CT and Elijah continued his work as a blacksmith. Amarilla's gr, gr, gr-grandfather, Henry Peck, was one of the original settlers of New Haven, CT coming there by June 1639 from England. Many of her other ancestors were also among the earliest settlers of New Haven Colony, also coming from England in the 1630s.

In some histories, Amarilla is listed as being born in Cheshire which is also in New Haven County, CT.

Amarilla married Asa White in abt. 1806 in Vermont U.S.A.. Asa (son of Asa White and Sarah Moors) was born on 7 Feb 1786 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts; died on 14 Aug 1844 in Mount Holly, Rutland, Vermont U.S.A.; was buried in Mechanicsville Old Cemetery, Mount Holly, Rutland, Vermont U.S.A.. Josephine Christy James tells us that Darwin White was in the the Union side of the Civil War and a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and is said to be buried in Jefferson Military Cemetery Saint Louis Misouri.[maryabwhiteanc.ged]

Darwin and Olivia moved to WI around 1852 after selling their land in Mount Holly, VT. They went to Waushara Co. where they were living at the time of the Civil War.
Darwin was in the 18th WI Volunteers in the Civil War, enlisting at 43 years of age on 18 Dec 1861 at Berlin, WI for a three year term. He gave his residence as Poysippi, Waushara County, WI. He was mustered into the military service of the United States on 22 Jan 1862 by Capt Trowbridge at Milwaukee, WI according to his Certificate of Service, issued by the State Historical Society of WI. The 18th Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Trowbridge, Milwaulkee, and mustered into the US Service on 15 Mar 1862. The regiment left WI for St. Louis on 30 Mar, then went to Pittsburg landing, TN on 31 Mar. On 5 Apr. the regiment was attached to the 2nd Brigade, 6th Division, Army of the Tennessee to Jul 1862 The next day he was wounded and captured in the Battle of Shiloh and taken to an Alabama prison camp. He was later released, but had contracted Typhoid. He was taken to St Louis, MO where he died in the military hospital there.
He was buried in the military cemetary there, according to his CW Pension papers.
According to his Certificate of Service issued by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin: "Private White was reported missing in action on April 6, 1862 at the battle of Shiloh, Tennessee. A special report, dated October 29, 1862 states he was a prisoner of war. In December 1862 he was reported dead by a Surgeon of the St. Louis , Missouri General Hospital. An inventory of effects and final statement report indicates Private White died on the 16th day of July, 1862, at St Louis, Missouri, due to typhoid fever. The Roll of Honor, Volume 20, page 390, shows he is buried in the cemetary at Jefferson Barracks, Missoure. He is buried in Section 11, Grave 10, having been removed from the Wesleyan Cemetary at St. Louis." Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary is located at 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis Missoure 63125. This is supposed to be a beautiful cemetary according to a national genealogist who wrote about this cemetary in a computer on-line article.

This White family can be traced to the "Mayflower."

His death certificate lists him as being single rather than widowed, so he must not have ever married. His occupation was listed as a farmer. He died of blood poisoning according to his Death Certificate. It is not clear whether he was buried in Mount Holly or not, but his Death Certificate was listed there.
