      Anne Davis Fowlkes (1928-2004)

      Blanch - Anne Davis Fowlkes 76, of 4575 Highway 62 North died Tuesday August 3, 2004 at her residence following several months of declining health. Funeral services will be Thursday 2 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Janet Balasko, Dr. Floyd Morrow and Rev. Robert Wright. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She was born in Caswell County to the late George Warner and Cornelia Poteat Davis. She and her husband Doug owned and operated Fowlkes Store in Hamer for fifty four years. A graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School she attended Peace College in Raleigh and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Surviving are husband Doug Fowlkes of the home, two daughters Elizabeth Anne F. Petty of Forest City, Janet Davis F. Collie of Leasburg, two sons Frank Douglas Fowlkes II and George Jennings Fowlkes both of Blanch, one brother George Warner Davis of Lexington, Ky. and six grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers Raymond Lindsey Davis, Sr., and Clinton Tarpley Davis Sr. and one sister Elizabeth Davis Carter. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 4, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, Yanceyville and at other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church c/o Cleve Daniel, Longs Mill Road, Blanch. N. C. 27212. Harrelson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangement.
