      Clifford W. Ankney passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

      Clifford W. (Snicker) Ankney was born Jan. 22, 1951, in Lewiston to Jack A. Ankney and Phyllis Devin Ankney. He was raised in the Lapwai area, graduating from Lapwai High School in 1969. He attended Lewiston Normal School and Spokane Community College graduating in 1976. In his youth he participated in football, baseball, pool and drag racing.

      Clifford moved to Santa Clara, Calif., where he began a career in electronics. He worked last as a DCS technician for Century Link until poor health forced him to retire.

      Clifford married Vanessa Rivers in 1983. They were later divorced.

      He enjoyed golf, fishing and watching his Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49'ers play.

      Clifford is survived by his sister Twila (William) Madison; nieces Gina (Steve) Buchanan and Hope (John) Carroll.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Ankney Jr. and nephew Jayson Ankney.

      A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, 400 N HWY 95 in Lapwai.
