After her husband's death, she relocated to Danville Virginia where she was a bookkeeper and nurse for a veterinary practice in Danville, Virginia, Tinsley Veterinary Hospital. For more than 30 years Harold Tinsley employed Sara and became surrogate to her two orphaned sons.
