        KENNETH "DOC" HOLLAND
        Kenneth "Doc" Holland, 85, of 2064 Whitmell School Rd, went to be with his Lord and Savior on his 85th Birthday, August 27, 2012, after a decline in health for the past two months.

        Born on August 27, 1927, in Pittsylvania County, VA the son of the late Charlie Franklin Holland and Hattie Blanche Wells Holland. Mr. Holland spent all of his life in the Whitmell Community of Pittsylvania County where he along with his brother J.T. ran Holland Brothers Grocery from 1958-1987. He was an active member of Whitmell Christian Church where he served as Chairman, Elder, Treasurer, and Choir member. He was associated with Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes for 59 years. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
        On March 12, 1947, he married his loving devoted wife of 65 years, Pauline Motley Holland, who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles "Chip" Holland, and wife Jo Ann, of Dry Fork, VA; Gary W. Holland, of Rocky Mount, VA; four sisters, Elise H. Motley, of Danville, VA; Iva Jeane H. Barber, of Dry Fork, VA; Marie H. McNeely, of Chatham, VA; Elaine H. Cranford, of Greensboro, NC; one brother, Clarence Holland, and wife, Faye, of Dry Fork, VA; three grandchildren, Kenneth "Jay" Holland, Kelsey Holland, Joshua Holland; one step-grandchild, Crystal Barrett. He was predeceased by one sister, Lois H. Allen, four brothers, John T., Kermit, Clyde, Carroll Holland.

        Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by Pastor Tim Oakes and the Rev. Allen Holder. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and at the residence at other times. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Whitmell Christian Church 2628 Whitmell School Rd Dry Fork, VA 24549, or to your favorite charity.
