- He was the immigrant ancestor and was one of the first settlers in Rowley, coming there about 1642 from England with his family. Many records of that time have been lost, but his name was at the head of a list of fifty-nine whose house lots were surveyed 10 Jan 1643. About twenty acres of land are recorded as belonging to him at that time, but he evidently owned much more than that. It thought that he had an adopted son, Thomas Jr. He also had at least three other sons.
