Lula Slade Chaney, 73, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation of Eden after a period of declining heath. She was born in Caswell County August 17, 1937 to the late James Slade and Frances Allison Slade. She was a member of Purley United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21 at Purley United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
She is survived by daughter Connie Frances Chaney of the home, son Cody Allen Chaney and wife Cindy of Ringgold, Va.; two sisters, Frances S. Robinson and husband Wallace of Reidsville, N.C. and Faye S. Page and husband David of Mayfield, N.C.; brother Joseph Julian Slade and wife Joan of Blanch, N.C.; one grandson, Cody Brandon Chaney; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Delma C. Haley of Danville, Va., and Margaret D. Slade of Blanch, N.C. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by husband Cody Chaney and one brother, Edgar Slade. The family received friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel and at other times at the residence, 2206 Blanch Road, Blanch, N.C. Harrelson Funeral Service is assisting the Chaney family with arrangements.
