George Thomas Carter named his first child William Green (probably after his father) 1900 Census shows George T.'s Birth as Nov 1850. The 1880 VA Halifax Census shows William Carter 72, and Elizabeth, his wife, 66 living in HH/Fam 30/33 next door to his son George Carter 25,(HH/FAM 31/34) with Martha (Sue Gravitt) 25, with children, Wm.(William Green)7, Joseph (Joseph Alpha) 5, James 4, Martha (Mattie Carter Powell) 2, and baby George is 10 months old.
        This is Martha's first appearance on the Census. She is two years old.
