James Andrew Jackson, s/o James and Judith married Martha Jane Thompson; When she married, her father was named as William Thompson. She was underage in 1849, placing her birth after 1828. Her husband James Jackson, died in 1872 and in a deed executed 28 Feb 1873, she was described as a "widow woman and late the wife of James A. Jackson when she sold the land on Sailors Creek for $50 to William A. J. Finney (Pittsylvania DB 55, page 186) By the 1880 census she was a tenant living in Leatherwood, Henry Co., VA with four children in the household. Her age was given as 50. Children Alma, 25, Dixie B. 15, J. Stonewall, 13, Ann E. 12, and grandson Walter. In the 1900 Census she is shown as Martha J. Jackson, mother-in-law, age 73, both parents born in VA, in the hh of Robert Adams. His wife Annie E. was born 1860. They named a son James.
