Manley Hitchcock born and raised in Massachusetts, came to the State of Ohio when that part of the state was a wilderness, settled where the City of Cleveland now stands, on the Cuyhoga River, county by the same name.

Sold that property for eight dollars per acre. Moved to the next adjoining county, being Lorain County where he bought land for one dollar and twenty five per acre near the center of Eton TWP where he lived and raised a large family.

Manley married Chloe Adams related to John and Quincy (Adams) that became our second and sixth presidents. She was raised in Massachusetts where they were married.
