2. | Sr. Joseph Gilson was born in 1636 in Massachusetts; died about Apr 1676 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Notes:
Early records of Groton show that Joseph Sr., original proprietor of Groton, removed from Chelmsford to Groton before 5 Mar 1665, with several other families. He and the others were forced to leave the town during King Phillip's War, after the town was burned in Mar 1676. He probably went to Concord where he died.
He died soon after the Indian raid at Groton in Mar 1676 in Concord, where the family had fled. His widow and children then stayed in the area of Concord that became Stow.
Joseph married Mary Cooper on 10 Nov 1661 in Chelmsford, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Mary (daughter of Timothy Cooper and Elizabeth) was born about 1634 in Warwickshire, England. [Group Sheet]

6. | Timothy Cooper was born in in Warwickshire, England. Notes:
He was probably Mary's father, as he was another Groton "Planter". He had come first to Lynn, MA by 1637 with his wife and daughter's, Mary and Hannah. He had several other children after coming to the new country including, Timothy II who also came to Groton. Another sister, Rebecca, married Adam Gould, who was also an early resident of Groton. The famuily also lived in Salem before coming to Groton. (Groton Founders Series, Vol 1 p. 58.)He was probably Mary's father, as he was another Groton "Planter".
