      Notes:

      Richard Carter + Frances Walton
      1. Richard and Frances Carter buy 400 acres from Joseph Terry in 1767; he is on lower left of
Grid 16.D., proven on Birch Creek.
      2. However, the 400 acres (exact amount in Halifax, corner to Pittsylvania) of Wm. Walters adjacent
to George next were transferred to said Joseph Terry 10 May 1764.
      3. "A Deed from Richard Carter to the Vestry of Antrim Parish was by the said Richard acknowledged to be
his act and deed, and the same is Ordered to be recorded 27 Nov 1767 Pittsylvania". (1 acre, see item 8.)
      4. The 354 Acre Patent to George Carter on 20 Jul 1768 is on the middle left edge of Grid 16.C. Consistent
with comments on land of Richard, both of these Grids are divided by the Halifax/Pittsylvania line running
NE on Magnetic North. The majority of this Patent is in Pittsylvania (Va. Pat. Bk 37, pp. 270,271)
but is surrounded by Walters, Viletto and Stamps * in Halifax, on the waters of Doubles Creek.
      5. The 370 Acres of (Dr.) Timothy Stamps (from Fauquier) is shown in lower left hand corner of Grid 16.C.,
transferred to Dodson in 1772; he has a second parcel directly north of George in Pittsylvania.
      6. 21 Jul 1773, Richard and Frances Carter sold 100 acres to George Carter. Witnesses: Thomas Walters *, I.N. Walters, Robert Walters. Bk 3, p.336. [This should tell you something]
      7. "At a court held Sept 25, 1778, Walters was appointed first lieutenant, John Hall second
lieutenant and John Stamps ensign in Captain George Carter's company of County Militia".
"The inventory of his personal estate was taken on 17 Jul 1787 by L. RAGLAND, John MOORE and Caleb DODSON".
