      In the name of God Amen. The eighteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and sixty six. I Edward Powell of the Parish of Antrim and the County of Halifax being in good and perfect mind and memory praise be given to God. Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
      First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God hoping through the merits death and ( ) of my blessed savior Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be buried at the descretion of my executors hereafter mentioned, and as touching such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following manner. VIZ:
      Imprimis, I lend to my loving wife Elizabeth Powell during her natural life my two negroes Sall & Patt, also all my other estate, and after her death to be divided as follows.
      Item I give amongst my 4 sons William Powell, David Powell, Mark Powell and Luke Powell, my two negroes, Sall & Pat to be equally divided amongst them & their heirs forever. Item, I give unto my son Mark Powell the plantation whereon I now liveth with all the land & plantation belonging to the old survey. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Mark Powell 144 acres of the new land bounded by a pine beginning at William Carleys landing on Banister River & running from thence to Moses Terrys line to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give unto my son Mark six head of cattle that he how has in his possession also I give unto my son Mark one feather bed & bedstead & furniture that he now has in his possession. Also I give & bequeath unto my son Mark the great Chest.
      Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Luke Powell 390 acres of land adjoining on the land I gave to my son Mark & on Terrys line then running to a corner pine in the head of the branch that runs down by John Days hence to Joseph Lands corner tree. Thence on his line to my son Marks line, to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Luke Powell 60 acres of land at the place that Medlock began to build a cabin, to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Luke Powell one feather bed & bedstead & furniture & one horse bridle & saddle & one gun & the little chest which he now has in his possession. Item: I give unto John Tuck 116 acres of land adjoining his line & Col. Woodings line which he has paid for. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Medlock to her and her heirs forever one negro girl named Martin. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Tuck one negro boy named Till to her & her heirs forever. My will & desire is that the remainder of my land shall be sold & equally divided amongst all my children. Item: I give unto my grandson Zachariah Medlock one feather bed & bolster when he is of age & if he dies before he comes of age my desire is that it shall be sold & equally divided amongst all my children. Item: I give and bequeath unto my sons Mark & Luke Powell all my iron pots & all my pewter to be equally divided. Thereby constitute and ordain William Gent and William Powell executors of this my last will and testament by me heretofore made in witness whereof the said Edward Powell to this my last will and testament, set my hand and prefix my seal the day above mentioned.
