These are simply cordial letters. F. B. CLEMENT wrote things like "thank
you for the pictures," "How are the rest of the family? Give my love to
them," and "I was so sorry to hear of Albert's death."

The only items specific to the topic of the children of Ellen RIGNEY and
Benjamin Turner CLEMENT in the letters written by F.B. CLEMENT that I have
      photocopies of are -

"It would interest me if you care to relate the whole story of his life
with your grandmother as well as with Sallie Gravelly." "It has always
seemed to me that he did the Rigney children an injustice and a wrong in
abandoning them without support." 19 Nov 1948

"It was news to me that he ever returned there after he first left Va for
Texas and also that he had the large number of children by your
      grandmother" 15 Jan 1949

"The Kodak picture enclosed of Rob, Albert and Ben reveal some similarity
of features to my father." 9 March 1950

The only other family members mentioned in the letters to Estelle POWELL
from F. B. CLEMENT are Aunt Tavia, Uncle Fletcher, and an Aunt Betsy
      Goggin

The photocopies of these letters were sent to me by James A. Davidson, a
      grandson of Albert Sidney RIGNEY.

      Respectfully submitted,

      Marna
      F. B. CLEMENT
      Attorney and Counselor at Law

      These letters are addressed to:

      Mrs. S. C. Powell
      Chatham, VA

      The letters begin: Dear Estelle

These letters contain details that indicate that indeed Benjamin Turner
CLEMENT did father children by Ellen RIGNEY.

This Benjamin Turner CLEMENT was the son of George Washington CLEMENT (1786
VA - 1867 VA) and Sarah 'Sally' TURNER (1804 VA - 1889 VA).

The F. B. CLEMENT is Fletcher Blaine CLEMENT (b. 1892 AR), son of Benjamin
Turner CLEMENT and Alice B. Williams (d. 1910 AR).

Estelle POWELL was born Estelle RIGNEY (b. 1906 VA), the daughter of Albert
Sidney RIGNEY (1867 VA - 1949 VA) who was the son of Ellen RIGNEY.

If you have additional information on the families of any of these people,
please do share it with the members of this group.

      Thank you.

      Sincerely,

      Marna
