      He is listed in the county's 1850 census alive with his wife.

      His parent's names could be found by requesting his death certificate from the Virginia Office of Vital Records in Richmond (will always show names of parents, if known).

      He is almost certainly a relative of the Pittsylvania Carters, descendants of Capt. Thos. Carter of "Barford", Lancaster Co., Va.
