    1. 2.  Asa Lawrence was born on 14 Jun 1737 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts (son of Peleg Lawrence and Ruth Brown); died on 16 Jan 1804 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts U.S.A..

      Notes:

He was the youngest son of Deacon Peleg, and grandson of Major Eleazer. He probably passed his youth and earlier years of his married lif e in Pepperell District, where his father had settled, but previous to the Rewvolution her removed to Groton, where he lived in a house about one mile east of the village. This was the birthplace of most of his children. He and his wife were "receved from Pepperell," 4 Sep 1774 according to the Groton Church Records. He was a Capt in the militia for Groton and marched with his men on 19 Apr 1775, though they did not reach Lexington or Concord in time to be in those battles. They went to Cambridge and guarded that area for awhile. He and his men were at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Asa White and his brother, Francis, were also there, but in Capt. Henry Farwell's unit. His name appears on the "Coat Rolls" along with Asa and Francis White and the others in the two untis from Groton. (Every man who fought was to get a coat as part of their pay with evidence of eight months service.)

Asa married Abigail King on 27 Jul 1757 in Littleton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Abigail (daughter of Richard King and Elizabeth Rowland) was born on 30 Jul 1736 in Littleton, Middlesex, Massachusetts; died on 12 Jan 1829 in Claremont, Cheshire, New Hampshire U.S.A.. [Group Sheet]

      Notes:

She was probably living with one of her children who had moved to Claremont at the time of her death.

      Notes:

Abigail was from Littleton, MA which is just SE of Groton. They had nine children with four being daughters. Several of their children didn't live to adulthood.

      Children:

    1. 4.  Peleg Lawrence was born on 01 Jun 1701 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts (son of Eleazer Lawrence and Mary Scripture); died on 27 Jul 1757 in Pepperrell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

      Notes:

He was admitted as a voter in Littleton in 1738, but did not reside there long. He removed to Groton West Parish, afterwards Pepperell, where he became actively interested in town and church affairs. He served as selectman of Groton three years, and was twice chosen deer-reeve. He was named a Deacon in the church on 23 Aug 1754.
He was the oldest son of Eleazer.

      Notes:

Her birth wasn't recorded in the Stow VRs, so she might have been born elsewhere. She was "of Stow" on 13 Apr 1728, when her marriage intention was recorded in the Stow VRs. Her parents are unknown, but two of Thomas Brown's sons, Boaz and Jabez, moved from Concord to Stow. Thomas Brown was an early settler of Concord, MA.

      Notes:

Only the marriage intention was recorded. The actual marriage was not recorded in Stow or Groton. Later records have Peleg's wife's name as Ruth. They were living in Pepperell for most of their marriage.

      Notes:

He owned 123 acres of land in the NW part of Littleton, conveyed by deed from Capt. Joseph Bulkley of Concord, Capt Jonathan Prescott, a Isaac Powers, a committee of Littleton proprietors on 1 Apr 1717. In 1728, he purchased of Robert Robbins all of the latter's real estate in Littleton. Twenty years later, he conveyed to his son, David, the homestead, with 130 acres of land, of which the NW boundary was "Groton old line," These extracts seem to prove that the homestead just described is the same at the place in Littleton known as the "old Lawrence Farm" which originally extended northerly as far as Forge Pond. His father Peleg's lands near Forge and Spectacle Ponds were all around the old house which was still standing when Sketches of the Lawrence Family was written about 1887. It is not improbable that Peleg built the old house for his son, Eleazer.
He was the second son of Peleg.
His will was dated 29 Dec 1749, and was probated 13 Jan 1755. His wife and son, David, were appointed executors. The document bears the signature "Elaza Lawrance." [Sketches of the Lawrence Family]

Eleazer married Mary Scripture about 1698 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Mary (daughter of Samuel Scripture and Elizabeth Knapp) was born on 07 Feb 1679/80 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet]

    2. 9.  Mary Scripture was born on 07 Feb 1679/80 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts (daughter of Samuel Scripture and Elizabeth Knapp).

      Notes:

They lived in Littleton for many years in a house on the east side of the old stage-road to Concord and Boston, and a very short distance south of the Stony-Brook Railroad. The cellar of the house still remained when Sketches of the Lawrence Family was written. They had ten children.

      Children:
      1. 4. Peleg Lawrence was born on 01 Jun 1701 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts; died on 27 Jul 1757 in Pepperrell, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

    3. 10.  Jabez Brown, Jr. was born about 1672 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts (son of Jabez Brown, Sr. and Hannah Blandford); died before 06 Jul 1747 in Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

Jabez married Sarah about 1700. [Group Sheet]
