She was not the first wife of Lea Holt. Obviously, not all the children of Lea Holt listed in the various census records were by Martha; however, several of the younger ones could have been. Also note that the mother of Calvin Lee Holt is believed to be Sarah Barksdale Powell. For him to have married a person named Martha Barksdale Powell raises the possibility of errors being made in ascribing names to his mother and wife. Caution is advised.
