Know all Men by these Presents that we Joseph Devin and Wm Devin are held and firmly bound unto the Common Wealth of Virginia in the Sum of fifty pounds [page torn here] [? ?] of the Common Wealth to which payment will and Truly to be made. We bind our Selves our Heirs Exors and admrs Jointly and firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals & Dated this 16th Day of July 1789. Whereas there is a Marriage Sudenly intended & by Gods permission between [the] [page torn here] above bound Joseph Devin & Eliza Nowling Nowling. Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if there is no Lawfull Cause to Obstruct the said Marriage then the above Obligation to be Void & of none [Effech] or else to Remain in full force honur & VirtueJoseph Devin {seal} William Devin {seal} Signd Sealed & Delivd in the presence of [no signitures] |
