- GEORGE WASHINGTON3 ARNN SR (Abraham2 Aron Sr, Jacob1 Aaron) was born in 1772 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. He died on 11 Jul 1855 in Henry, Tennessee. He married SARAH WALKER on 10 Dec 1797 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, daughter of Elisha Walker and Judith Kirby. She was born in 1783 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She died on 21 Jun 1849 in Henry, Tennessee. Notes for George Washington Arnn Sr: from LA: Identified in land tax records 1805 as "George W. Aron". According to Mrs. McRee of MI, a descendent, her great grandfather was named George Washington Aron and Mary Arnn who married George Sr's son Henry was his mother. No doubt the latter George Washington Aron was named after his grandfather. HP/RAC identifies him as George M. Aaron
Deed dated 17 Jul 1797 - purchased 164 acres on Sandy River from Henry and Elizabeth Warren for 24 pounds. Listed in the land tax records with this acreage until 20 Oct 1800 when he buys 120 acres from Abraham Aaron, Jr. for $100. This land was located on Turkey Cock Creek. [DB 12, p. 212, Chatham - LA, p. 36, ref 29] Deed recorded 14 May 1807 - bought 100 acres from Abraham Sr. This was part of a 220 acre plot surveyed 9 Apr 1801. Land located on branches of Sandy River and Turkey Cock Creek - paid his father 30 shillings. By 1829 he had extensive holdings [see LA, p. 34]; sold all remaining land in 1829. George left Virginia and moved to Henry County Tennessee about 1830. An inventory of his property is under the name of George Arun. HP/RAC lists him as George M. LA: "George married Sarah Walker 10 Dec 1797. She was the daughter of Elisha Walker and sister to Isaac Arnn's first Wife, Polly. Sarah was a little younger than George; the 1820 census listing him as '45 years and afterward'. The 1820 census of Pittsylvania County, Virginia lists 'one
free white female between 26-45'. This is most likely Sarah...Sarah probably went by the nickname Sally...A note in a son's [Abihu] Bible stated her death..." LA mentions a letter from George and Sally Arnn living in Henry County, Tennessee to their sons Henry and George and others back in Virginia. This would indicate that spelling of the name was
Arnn bef 1849.

i. HENRY CLAY4 ARNN was born in 1799 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, He died about 1858 in Henry, Tennessee. He married (1) MARY ANN ROBERTSON on 26 Nov 1825 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She was born in 1800 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She died in Henry, Tennessee. He married (2) NANCY MARTIN in 1821.
ii. JOHN ARNN was born about 1803 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, USA. He died in 1830 (died from gunshot).
Notes for John Arnn:
Per LA - "In the letter ...March 1830 Sally or Sarah [her real name] mentions a boy John who was killed and another boy William and a child Kit." It is assumed that they were also children. No other record has been found of William or Kit.
iii. GEORGE WASHINGTON ARNN JR. was born in 1805 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. He died in 1880 in Henry, Tennessee, USA. He married (1) LOUISA V. LANKFORD on 08 Sep 1857 in Henry, Tennessee, USA. She was born in 1832 in
North Carolina. She died in 1921 in Tennessee. He married (2) CHARLOTTE LEWRY on 11 Jan 1848 in Tennessee. She was born in 1810 in North Carolina. She died in 1859 in Tennessee, USA. He married (3) A. FRANCES DONALDSON.
iv. ANADAB ARNN was born in 1807 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. He died about 1869 in Webster, Missouri, USA. He married ELLEN ELANOR ALEXANDER on 11 Jan 1832 in Henry, Tennessee, daughter of James Alexander and Hester Sidwell. She was born in 1814 in Kentucky, USA. She died in 1870 in Webster, Missouri.
v. ABIHU ARNN22, was born on 23 Sep 1807 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. He died on 24 Feb 1893 in Conway, Arkansas. He married MARGARET REYNOLDS BLAIR on 26 Oct 1829 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, daughter of Samuel Brittain Blair Sr. and Mary Reynolds. She was born on 24 Apr 1811 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She died on 07 Nov 1876 in Independence, Arkansas.
vi. ANN ARNN was born about 1811 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She married JOHN WALKER. He was born about 1806.
vii. JUDITH ARNN was born about 1813 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. She married WILLIAM M. FRAZIER on 18 Sep 1839 in Henry, Tennessee. He was born about 1808.

George Washington Arnn was born in 1772 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Some researchers list his middle initial as 'M'. However, this is probably an incorrect transcription of 'W'. He married Sarah Walker who was born to Elisha and Judith (Kirby) Walker around 1784. By 1830 they and most of their children had migrated to Henry Co., TN where she died in Jun 1849 followed by him on 11 Jul 1855. Most of the descendants of George and Sarah moved west and spell their surname Arnn. Children of George Arnn Sr.: Henry Clay married Mary Ann Robertson, George Jr. married (1) A. Frances Donaldson (2) Charlotte Lewry and (3) Louisa V. Lankford, Abihu married Margaret Blair, Anadab married Eleanor Alexander, Ann married John Walker, Judith married William M. Frazer, James Madison married Amanda Bond, Frances 'Fannie' married John I. Crawford, John, Kitt and William. I descend from Henry Clay Arnn. Henry Clay Arnn was born around 1799 according to the 1850 census. On 26 Nov 1825, he married Mary Robertson who was born around 1800 according to the same census. Henry died after his father's will was probated on 7 Jan 1857 and before the census was taken in 1860. Mary was living with her son Crispin in Henry Co., TN when the 1860 census was taken. She is listed as Mary D. aged 61 years born in NC. All of Henry's family moved to TN except George Washington who lived in VA and NC. His descendants took the spelling Aron which later became Aaron. Children of Henry Clay Arnn: George Washington married (1) Julina Witcher and (2) Mary Frances 'Fannie' Haley, David married Ann Babb, Edward H. married Letitia McFadden, Crispin married Mary Griffin and Anna/Frances 'Ann' married James Parker. I descend from George Washington Aron.
George W. Aron George Washington Aron was born 2 Nov 1828 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. He first married Julina Witcher who was also born in Pittsylvania Co., VA on 12 Dec 1834 to Caleb and Frances (James) Witcher. They had eight children. Julina/Julia died on 23 Apr 1875. In 1877, George then married Mary Frances 'Fannie' Haley with whom he had 6 children. He died 25 Jan 1902 in Leaksville, NC. Children of George Washington Aron and Julina Witcher: John James married Hattie Hicks, George W. Jr. married L.D. Gardner, Martha A. 'Pattie J.' married J.P. Finney, Daniel Witcher 'Witch', Letcher, Bruce James married Susie Clay Marlow, Thomas married Aura Lee Shorter and Charles C. married Ida Aron. Children of George W. Aron and Fannie Haley: Julia F., Mary H., Mae, William J. 'Willie', Fannie 'Kate' and Ezra W. I descend from Bruce James Aron.
