Carmel District shows William Carter 62, HH/FAM 167/168 Betsy 58, Richard 67 (William's Brother) Edward 21, Harriett 16, George T. 20; 1880 Census Halifax Mt. Carmel District shows William 72, Elizabeth 66, next door to George 25, (He is 30) Martha 25, Wm. 7, Joe 5, James 4, Martha 2 George 10/12 (July) The 1910 VA Census shows George T. Carter and Sally Fannie Green have been married 25 years have 7 children, 6 of which are living. George and Sally Fannie live beside two of their sons and their families. 1870 VA CENSUS HH/FAM 167/168 shows William Carter 62, Betsy 58, Edward and Harriett George 20. This Richard age 67 appears to be the brother of William; however they are related (not known at this time 2011) Richard Carter age 59 shown in HH/FAM 359 is another Richard Carter who is distinguished by the middle initial "H.". Obit found: His name is George Turner Carter. He is named per the tradition of the time. George for his father, William George 'Buck' Carter and Turner for his mother's maiden name, Elizabeth Patience 'Betsy' Turner. Obit found: His name is George Turner Carter.
