I do not know of a direct connection with your group. I have been at these Carter's for years. Mine, through Richard Carter, (1765-1849) were in Halifax Co., VA. Richard had a son, Landon. Richard had not brothers named Landon so I am unsure where the Landon derives. I do know that there was a Landon Carter, who was a possible uncle of my Richard, left VA from Halifax Co., and settled in what became Carter Co., TN. My Richard had a brother, Robert, whom I believe settled in Kentucky. I am working on where. His mother was named Mary and also a sister. There were also several other Landon Carter's dating back sometime in Virginia. One researcher wrote that the name came from the Landon family who married into the Carter's in the Richmond, VA area. There was a genealogy done years ago that might help you some. It is on the Carter's and makes an effort to sort them out from each other. No small task considering that over the years they all had the same names.....including Presley. By the way, my Carter's moved to GA around 1784 and settled in Greene County, which later became Jasper County. There was a Presley Carter down there too. I will go back and check my notes to see if I missed anything and let you know if I have. You may reach me directly at wemcmichael@nc.rr.com. Wish I had more information for you.
