DANVILLE - The Rev. Harold Thomas Reynolds, 81, of 4957 Mount Cross Road, went to be with his Lord on January 11, 2008 at his residence.
Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Beverly Thomas Reynolds and the late Lillian Merricks Reynolds.
Rev. Reynolds had lived most of his life in Pittsylvania County. Rev. Reynolds founded and pastored Full Gospel Revival Chapel on the Mount Cross Road for 45 years. He was also founder and president of H.T. Reynolds Evangelistic Association. His life was spent proclaiming the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. From humble beginnings, God expanded his ministry to have international influence that touched lives around the world.
Through the printed page and radio broadcasts, he was effective in reaching people from all walks of life. He preached a "whosoever will" gospel, staying focused on the fact that God loves everyone, everywhere and came to save and deliver them. His life was a beacon to many and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His opening remarks on each radio broadcast were, "I came to tell you one more time that Jesus Christ of Nazareth loves you, and that he is touched with the feelings of your infirmities."
He served with the U.S. Air Force at Clark Air Field in the Philippines.
He married Gracie Jefferson Reynolds on Oct. 28, 1944; she died in December of 1991.
He is survived by two daughters, Janet R. Pruitt and husband, James Pruitt Jr., of Danville, and Joan M. Reynolds, of Danville; two sisters, Barbara R. Scearce, of Danville and Arlene R. Green, of Danville; a brother, Stanley G. Reynolds, of Chatham; and two grandsons, Brian D. Pruitt and Timothy A. Pruitt.
