- This info says that Mary Carter, d/o Lemuel and Patsy Powell b 1805 is the Mary Carter who married Isaac Satterfield who was the Trustee of the estate of Mastin Powell. Mastin Powell and Patsy Powell who married Lemuel Carter are both the children of David Powell and Mary Eppes....Mary Carter-d/o-Lemuel Carter-father; ISAAC SATTERFIELD WAS THE SON OF THE FOLLOWING SAMUEL SATTERFIELD AND NANCY CARTER; MARY CARTER WAS THE DAUGHTER OF LEMUEL CARTER.
Lemuel Carter and Mary "Polly" Carter are both children of Susannah Bigger and Richard Carter. Undoubetly, Lemuel named his daughter Mary, for his sister who was Mastin Powell's wife. Also, Mary is also the name of Patsy Powell's mother, Mary Eppes who was David Powell's 1st wife. Remember, Susannah Bigger married David Powell after the death of Richard Carter.

I do remember seeing on one of the websites where she was. But very little info on her. But I do have a marriage for Lemuel Carter and Patsy Powell married Dec. 26, 1801. Surety is listed as David Powell So I'm pretty sure he is her father. Copied from Marriages of Halifax County 1801 - 1831. I think her full name is Martha Patsy Powell. Will have to look further into this. Found a 1850 census Lemuel - 76, Martha - 60, Richard 42, John 33 and Elizabeth 11. The other census I was telling you about is a 1870 census of William Carter and Elizabeth P. Betsy Turner. William Carter 62 , Betsy 58, Richard Carter 67 ( Williams brother),Edward 21, Harriet 16, and George T. 20. It fits. Lol back then they always had their ages off a few years. This is something else I came across that's pretty interesting. David Powell's first wife Mary Epps is cousins with Thomas Jefferson. I haven't quite figured it out yet but their are a lot of Epps in Thomas Jefferson's family. Very confusing.
