        Francis Jackson Carter was a son of the Revolutionary War. His father was Captain George Carter and married Mary Craig settled in the Dutch Bottom area of Cocke County George Carter married a second time in 1804 to Mary Calfee, the Widow of William Calfee of Virginia. Don't know if she was still alive and settled with Captain George Carter or not in Cocke County. Captian Geoge died abt 1810 and is buried in the Union Baptist Church Cementary in Cocke County

        According to research compiled by Janis Hale, Francis died in a storm on the Mississippi River in 1830.
