He enlisted in the Navy April 10, 1917 and served over four years. He, with
Ralph Hitchcock, brother, received first training on the ship San Diego and
remained on the San Diego until its sinking on July 19, 1918. He was a
farmer in Fort Shaw Montana.

From Ella Hitchcock Starr sister of Mark - Mark did not like the name of Abraham so for his miltary service records, he said his middle name was Albert. (As told to Gatha Bressler Rhodes ( daughter of Ruth Hitchcock Bressler sister to Mark and Ella), February 22, 1999.
