Both Ira and William Hitchcock were prominent Methodist ministers. William was considers to be a great orator.[riverrat1981.ged]
William Manly was injured in a childhood accident, which left him lame...At 19,
he was converted at a Methodist revival...His family gave him a horse and
with the Bible in his saddle bag, he rode through northern OH and was called
the "Boy Preacher."...died at age 27, while a Pastor of a church in Toledo, OH.
He married 11 Oct/25 Nov 1847, Irene POPE, a descendant of the Mayflower
POPES. One son, William D, b 1849 in Dover, OH.
