News: After 30 years, Devin Timber is being decommissioned! After January 2027, this site will no longer be available. Web hosting costs continue to raise at rates that cannot be sustained on a limited income. In addition, finding volunteer expertise needed to administer the technical side of hosting a site, such as this, is challenging.

A Devin Timber group project has been set up at FamilySearch.org. FamilySearch has the tools and the long experience with collaborative genealogy and is available to everyone without cost. All documents and citations found on the current Devin Timber are being migrated to the records on FamilySearch.

If you have access to Ancestry, a public member tree, named "Devin Progeny," is a copy of the tree on the current Devin Timber. The Devin Progeny tree is being used to help evaluate research accuracy using the DNA samples from descendants of William & Sarah Devin. The Ancestry Devin Progeny tree will not be supported with documentation or citations due to the cost of Ancestry subscriptions.

Ms. Martha L. and Hiram Trotter had one son William M. Trotter.

John Howard Owens b. 1845, son of Franklin Mabry Owens, marrie d Ann H. Sewell, b. 1844. They were married May 21,
1865, in Tishomingo Co Ms. I rec'd this information from a Rene e Kneller back in 1999. She writes "Ann H. Sewell married
John Howard Owens May 21, 1865, Tishamingo Co. Ms. An interesti ng note on John Howard Owens....He died a tragic
death. He lost his memory and when all were asleep, went out th rough the chimney. He was found, hanging by the neck
in the horse lot between the barn and stable at his Uncle Danie l Hart's place about half-mile from home. He died 1-1868.
His widow and 2 young sons were living with his parents Frankl n and Millie in 1870. The 2 sons were Franklin and John
        H. "John Toot" Don't know if this is true or not.

Elizabeth P. Owens b. 1831 was the daughter of Howard W. Owens a nd Mary Ann Sewell Owens. She was married more
than once. She married David Crocket Trotter March 7, 1850 in T ishomingo Co. Ms. They had seven children. David
Trotter died in Ms. either in or shortly after the Civil War. E lizabeth and her children migrated to Texas with other members
of the family. Elizabeth Owens Trotter married Obediah Beene o n September 5, 1875 or May 9, 1875 in Freestone Co.
        Texas.

Hiram Trotter and David Crocket Trotter were brothers to my grea t grandfather Jonathan Trotter. Ann H. Sewell was a
sister to my great grandmother Susan Sewell Trotter, wife of Jon athan.

I do not know the relationship between Mary Ann Sewell Owens an d my Sewells, but I believe that there is kinship there.

        Hopes this helps you. Sandra
