According to Aunt Grace Patterson: Bearnard has quite a few str okes. Which is what caused him to be bed ridden for so many yea rs. He apparently has his first stroke shortly after he came hom e from service in 1945. So maybe by 1950?? He was living with G ayther and Grace when he had his first stroke. Eunice came an d got him. He lived with her the rest of his life. Aunt Grace t hought the state paid her to care for him. They lived in a hous e on a farm of one of their brothers.. then the state paid to bu ild a house for them.
Apparently the Patterson have several health problems that run i n the family:
Strokes, Heart attacks, Skin Cancer, & bad eye sight. Several o f them where near blind or blind when they died.
