- Samuel C. Jackson is the brother of Martha Ann Jackson (Reynolds). His identity and parentage from Pittsylvania County Circuit Court records in 1852 in a case to settle his father's estate. The notice published in Jan 1852 stated he was not a resident of Virginia; his brother William L. was also a non-resident.
Samuel C. Jackson enlisted in the US Army in 1837 in Lynchburg, Virginia and was assigned to 1st US Army, Company H. He was 21 when he entered the Army. He re-enlisted in 1845 at Fort Snelling; was discharged 24 September 1850 at Fort Merrill, Texas as a sergeant. He re-inlisted 16 Apr 1852 in New Mexico. He was five feet eight inches tall; had blue eyes and dark hair. This info is from the US Army Register of Enlistments 1798-1914.
