SLC 977.87 H2h (listing for Richard Beck) This may be questionable as there
are court documents which indicate he was alive in 1869. Another source said
he died in 1876...not documented. Have copy of a letter he wrote in Mar 1863
when he was a member of the Missouri State Legislature. DOD certainly not in
1862.
In Polk Co MO he held the office of County Treasurer; was collector a term; was
representative a term; & County Judge for a number of years. He was a Democrat and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Kept store in Bolivar MO for 14 years. He was Justice of the Peace in 1849 when he married Clayton S. Devin and Nancy Rebecca Williams.
William Robert Devin was one of the first settlers in Marion Township, Polk County, Missouri along with his brother Clayton Devin. Moved from Tennessee to Missouri in 1834 per History of Hickory, Polk, Cedar, Dade, and Barton Counties, Missouri 1889, page 637.
