5001 She was a widow when she married Thomas. Colton, Mary (I4865)

5002 She was alive when her second husband's Estate Inventory was taken. Allen, Joan (I5334)

5003 She was already a 4th generation resident of Charlestown, MA (which is now part of Boston) on her father's side. Her great-grandfather, Ralph MOUSALL, was an early immigrant to Charlestown coming therre about 1633. He and his wife, Alice, joined the church there on 3 Sep 1634, soon after Charlestown was settled. She was 5th generation in New England on her mother's side, going back to Major Simon Willard who was a co-founder of Concord, MA in 1635 and was very prominent in the Indian Wars. The other founder of Concord was Rev Peter Bulkeley who was an ancestor of Amarilla Peck, a great-granddaughter-in-law.
After her death, her youngest son, Samuel, who was taking care of her on his parents property, was able to marry. He then inheirited the property, as was in the agreement that he had signed. He was in his 40s by the time he was free to marry.
    Mousall, Elizabeth (I5160)

5004 She was left a feather bed and cupboard by her grandfather, Thomas Edwards. Patch, Sarah (I5207)

5005 She was married a 2nd time to ____ Hills -- date & place unknown. Klinkner, Elma Irene (I7047)

5006 She was not the first wife of Lea Holt. Obviously, not all the children of Lea Holt listed in the various census records were by Martha; however, several of the younger ones could have been. Also note that the mother of Calvin Lee Holt is believed to be Sarah Barksdale Powell. For him to have married a person named Martha Barksdale Powell raises the possibility of errors being made in ascribing names to his mother and wife. Caution is advised.

5010 She was Samuel's ssecond wife. Family F1810

5011 She was the oldest of Simon's 18 children, and was born in England. She came with her parents to New England about 1634.

She was the first daughter of 17 children by 3 wives and was born in England before her father came to New England and helped establish Concord, MA.
    Willard, Mary (I5016)

5012 She was the second of six children, and possibly born in Hawkendon. Browne, Mary (I5166)

5013 She was the second wife of John Green Lea.

In the obituary of John Bibb Powell reference is made to a half-sister, Mrs. John G. Lea of Danville, Virginia. Thus it is possible that Mildred Helen Powell and John Bibb Powell shared only one parent, probably a father, Mastin James Powell.

5017 Sherry Moschler and Michael Reynolds of 1426 Barn Road Callands Virginia submitted the following information to be included in the Heritage Series of Books for Pittsylvania Co., Virginia; this can be seen at the Bassett Historical Society Bassett, Virginia Article # 1095:
" Allen Gilmer Reynolds married Martha Ann Jackson. They lived on Turkeycock Mountain at a place known as "Double Oaks Gap". A foundation on the old homeplace can still be detected there along with large piles of rock - monuments to the backbreaking work involved in clearing the mountain land for farming purposes. Two of their children are buried at Double Oaks Gap. In 1878 they moved off the mountain to the Grady Community.

(Tabitha and Texanna, two of their daughters died, probably of yellow fever during an epidemic just before they returned to Grady; Allen and Martha were parents to eight children, six who reached maturity and produced families of their own.-Mary Frances Eggleston

Obituary of Lois Byrd Moore Gardner
    Lois Moore Gardner
    Nov 29, 2006 - 03:31:38 pm CST

Reidsville, NC - Lois Moore Gardner, 92, died Monday November 27, 2006 at Brookshire Nursing Center in Hillsborough, NC.

Graveside Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 30 in Greenview Cemetery with Reverend Dave Huggins officiating.

Lois was born January 12, 1914 at Blanch (named for her mother) in Caswell County, NC to the late Alexander Banks Moore and Blanche Lydia Moore. She is survived by her son, Jake A. Gardner, Jr. and daughter-in-law Robyn; grandchildren, Erica, Morgan and William; nieces and nephews. Lois' husband of 47 years, Jake A. Gardner, Sr. preceded her in death in August 1994.

As a wife, mother and teacher, Lois strived to be the best she could be. We should all be inspired by her intentions, determination and integrity.

The family wishes to thank Brookshire Nursing Center for their loving care and the serenity Lois was able to achieve so late in life. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29, from 7:00 until 8:00 pm.

Consideration of Hospice, which has served so many so well, would be an appropriate tribute. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com.
