Her tombstone reads Ruby Mitchell Bryant. Whether Bryant was her birth name or her married name is unknown. Here it is assumed that Bryant was her married name. The gravestones of Robert L. Mitchell (1865-1939) and Ruby Mitchell Bryant are adjacent in the Gilead Presbyterian Cemetery (Estelle, Caswell County, North Carolina). Whether they are related is unknown. However, it is possible that this person is Robert Lee Mitchell, brother of James Grasty Mitchell (father of Ruby Mitchell). Thus, Robert L. Mitchell would be an uncle of Ruby Mitchell.

History of William Reynolds by Carol Love Gipson; GippyHouse@aol.com
Margaret Exton Reynolds' second husband was John Carter. Margaret's will, dated 1684-Dec-8, was probated 1688-Oct-15. No primary sources have been located to indicate William came to America. Since his children's births from 1645-1655 are recorded at Chichester, England and his will, dated 1660, lists his residence as Chichester, England it is very unlikely he immigrated to America. | Exton, Margaret (I11414)

Fannie (Frances) Willingham, d/o Gerald and Mary Johnson Willingham, m Joshua Powell; known issue: Mary 'Polly' Powell, who married James Harding Morefield.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MOREFIELDHOMEPLACE/message/2074
....."After Joshua (Sr.) died (before 1810), Fanny's children sued her in order to force her to carry out the terms of Joshua's will--Halifax VA, Plea Book 29 p. 189, 315. Another daughter of Joshua & Fanny mentioned in that court case was Polly. The rest of you may have already figured this out, but it just occurred to me that the Polly mentioned in the law suit must have been the Mary "Polly" who married James Harding Morefield in 1816. James & Polly's oldest son was named Joshua. Well, duh... James & Polly were in Rowan, NC in 1830, in Clark, IN in 1840 and in St. Clair, IL in 1850. They also named a daughter Frances, so maybe there were no lasting bad feelings toward
Polly's mother."
GERRALD4 WILLINGHAM (JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1)4 was born August 01, 1734 in Bristol Parish, Prince George Co. Virginia, and died April 24, 1792 in Halifax Co. Virginia. He married MARY JOHNSON, daughter of JOSEPH JOHNSON. She died Unknown.

This is some of what I know about Gerrald Willingham:
Gerrald Willingham b. 1 Aug 1734, son of John and Mary Willingham. [Bristol Parish, Virginia records]
Father of Gerrald Willingham is John Willingham d. 1751 Lunenburg Co., Virginia who named son Gerrald in his will. [Will Bk. 1, 1746-1762,pp.38-9d].
Gerrald (1734-1792) first appears on tithe list in 1751 Lunenburg Co., Virginia on land of Thomas Sturdevant (guardian?, Gerrald would be 16 and his father would have just died).
Gerrald appears on the tithe list of 1752 Lunenburg Co., Virginia on the land of Mary Willingham, his mother; also he appears 10 June 1764, 10 June 1769, 1772 ,1773, 1775, 1776 on the Cumberland Parish, Lunenburg Co. Virginia tithe list; no Willingham on the 1783 Lunenburg Co. Virginia tithe list. [Sunlight on the Southside]

Tax and land records show that Gerrald stayed in Lunenburg Co., Virginia until 1780 when he sold his land. He bought land in Halifax Co., Virginia in 1782 and remained there until his death in 1792.

Notes for MARY JOHNSON:
The following information came from Dr. Katherine Woerner and is posted on http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/2070/willingham.html belonging to Nancy Leeg Jankowski.
Court action Stephen Wood and Ann Wood Vs. Estate of Joseph Johnson of Lunenburg Co., Virginia Court, Sept 1761? Ann Johnson, daughter of Joseph Johnson ...dispute between Joseph and his son in law Stephen Wood and also with another of his sons-in-laws, Jarrell Willingham m 1855 Mary Johnson... see Lunenburg co. Court order book No.7 pages 117-119 for suit brought by Jarrel and Mary (Johnson) Willingham against Joseph Johnson, father of Mary on 3 Mar 1761 when Joseph Johnson's will was presented in court for probate, Stephen Wood, Jarrell Willingham and Joseph Williams were listed as the executor's sureties (Lunenburg Co. will book 2, p. 28.
The above court action proves that Mary Johnson, daughter of Joseph Johnson with the 1761 will in Lunenburg Co., Virginia, is the wife of Jarrell Willingham. Jarrell Willingham B. 1 Aug 1734 is shown in the Bristol Parish, Prince George Co. Birth Records as the son of John Willingham (1751 will in Lunenburg Co., Virginia) and Mary.
Dr. Katherine Woerner believes that it is possible that John could have also been married to a Mary Johnson, perhaps the sister of Joseph Johnson, son of Stephen Johnson, whose (Joseph) daughter, Mary, married Jarrell Willingham. So Mary Pate being his wife is not written in stone. It is also a possibly that he may have been married two times maybe first wife was Mary Johnson and second wife Mary Pate.
05-13-2000. This entry by Katrina M. Piper. Noting the continuing pattern that children, usually sons, but sometimes daughters, are given the middle name of their mother's maiden names, or even grandmother's maiden names. Could Pate have been the case?
