CURTIS - On the 29th of May, in Branch county, Mich., of dropsy, Elizabeth Curtis, aged 72 years, 11 months and 14 days. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill by Preacher Hill, Harvey Friesner, and J.S. Coffman. Sister Curtis was called to pass through some of the sorest trials in life that God permits to come to his children; but through them all He kept her faithful. She lived an exemplary life, and continued to manifest an abiding trust in Him to the last moments of her life.

Daniel & Bathsheba married 12 May 1767, Tisbury, Dukes, Mass...per IGI
Daniel Dunham & family apparently arrived in Washington Co OH in 1789. However, there are indications that he/they might have been there a year earlier.
Rufus Putnam and the first Marietta settlers from MA and RI took the old road across southern PA to Pittsburg and then came down the Ohio River. Persons fro CT who were going to Ohio's Western Reserve used lakes and rivers to get to Buffalo, NY. They eventually followed the shoreline of Lake Erie to get to northern OH and Cleveland.

"I was about to give the same guess [as to the person for whom Blanch, North Carolina was named], although I didn't know that Blanche Moore's father had run the post office. Blanche Moore was a cousin of my grandmother's, Lydia Anne Watkins, and they were very close. I remember visiting "Cousin Blanche" as a child when she lived in the house the Moorefields own now. She was quite a lady, and Blanch can be proud to be named for her! My grandparents built the house in Blanch that Wayne and Linda Bray now own, and they raised a family of 11 children. After he turned his dairy farm over to a son, my grandfather also ran the post office and train station there. It was before my day, but have heard many stories of the "hobos" who road the trains during and after the depression and stopped in the area. My grandfather bought some beautiful pieces from peddlers who rode through (former shop owners who had lost all but their merchandise). Some of those things have been handed down through the family."

Dated 17.September.1849 deed from James A. Devin, commissioner, to Thomas S. Jones. This deed sells the portion of land Sarah Devin kept after selling tracts to James Oakes and Benjamin Fowler from the land she inherited from her father, Willaim Devin, Sr. This tract of land appears to be the land on which Sarah lived and on which William Devin, Sr. lived before he died.
