      This Indenture made this Tenth day of November in the year of our Lord
      Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Between Jeremiah Spurling
      of the County of Fair fax of the one part and Robert Devin of the County of Pittsylvania
      of the other part Withnefseth that the said Jeremiah Spurling for and in Consideration
      of the sum of Sixty Dollars to him in hand paid and satisfied by the said Robert
      Devin, the Receipt whereof the sd Jeremiah Spurling doth hereby acknowledge
      hath bargained, Sold and Confirmed and by these presence doth absolutely
      Give grant, bargain & Sell & Confirm unto the sd Robert Devin one Tract or
      parcell of Land bying and being in the County of Pittsya on both sides of Weetsleave
      Creek containing Forty seven & 3/4 Acres, be the same more or lefs, and
      Bounded as folleweth, to wit, Beginning at a red Oak Corner on the said
      Devin's line, thence North 27 W Twenty two poles to a Maple on said

      Creek, and up the same No 15 E forty poles to a Maple at the bend, North Sixty four
      East fifty six pos to a red Oak with pointers, So 25 E one hundred and ten poles
      crofsing the Creek to a red oak. So 64 W Sixty eight poles to a Spanish oak No 25
      W fifty four poles to Hickory pointers & thence So 64 W twelve poles to the beginning
      fifteen Acres of the above Land is part of the Land I the said Devin this day made a Deed
      to the said Spurling, which is to be deducted from the same and Thirty two & 3/4 Acres
      to be taken from the Land the said Spurling had of Jacob Isaac's And the right of him
      the said Spurling for himself and his heirs the above Granted tract or parcell of
      Land with all the profits and advantages to it belonging or in any wise apperta=
      =ining unto the said Robert Devin his heirs and afsigns will forever Warrant
      maintain and defend from the just claim or claims of any person or persons
      whatsoever lawfully pretending to claim the same, And that he the sd Robert
      Devin his heirs& is hereby alowed by the said Jeremiah Spurling to have
      Just and peacible psfsefsion of the same In Witnefs whereof the said Jeremiah Spurling
      has hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal the year and day [first] above written

      At a Court held for Pittsylvania County January the 15.th 1798 --
      This Indenture was proved by the Oaths of two of the witnefses hereto to be the act --
      and deed of the within named Jeremiah Spurling. And at another Court held for
      the said County June the 18th in the year aforesaid the same was furhter proved
      by another witnefs thereto Ordered that the same be recorded --
