      This Indenture made this [sixth] day of [December] in the year of [our Lord Christ one thou­sand]
      seven hundred and ninety seven between William Devin senr of the County of Pitt­sylvania of the [one part]
      and Jeremiah Spurling of the County of Fairfax of the other part Witnesseth that the said Willi[am Devin]
      Senr for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars to him in hand paid and satistfied by [the said]
      Jer= Spurling the Receipt whereof the said Will Devin doth acknowledge hath bargained sold []
      confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely give grant bargain and sell and confirm unto [the said]
      Spurling, one certain tract or parcel of Land, lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania con­tain[ing]
      thirty eight and 1/4 acres be the same more or less, and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning [at a]
      post oak corner, Thence East fifty six poles to a [Alive] in a branch, thence up the same N 30 W [fifty]
      four poles to a white oak, North fifteen West twenty four poles to a [Pine], [North] four West thirty [six]
      to William Devin, Senr corner red oak, at the head of the [bottom], South 49 west [seventy] eight [poles to]
      White’s corner red oak, thence South thirty East eighty five poles to the Beginning, unto the [right] [ ]
      the said William Devin for himself and his Heirs the above granted Tract or parcel of Land [aforesaid to]
      [profit] and advantages to it belonging or in any wise [apportaining] unto the said Jerimiah Spur[ling]
      his Heirs and Assigns, will forever warrant maintain and defend from the just claim or [claims]
      any person or persons, whatsoever Lawfully pertaending to Claim the same, and that he the [said]
      Jerimiah Spurling his Heirs & is hereby allowed by the said William Devin, Senr to [have quiet]
      and peaceable possession of the same. In Witness whereof the said Will. Devin has [hereunto]
      set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
