Devin Family in Patriot Lineage Societies
This article lists descendants the Devin family and associated lines who have proved lineage to ancestors who served in the military or supported the struggle for independence from British rule.
William Devin, Sr., William Devin, Jr., and Robert Devin of Pittsylvania County Virginia are accepted as DAR, SAR, and CAR Ancestors. William Sr. is credited as a Grand Juror, taken the Oath of Allegiance, and furnishing supplies to the cause. William Devin, Jr. served in the Virginia Continental Line as a Sergeant for three years service in Capt. Henry Conway's company. Robert Devin, brother of William, Jr. served with him. James Devin, oldest brother of William and Robert, served in the Pittsylvania County Militia and had enough service to be eligible for a pension. He should also be qualified as a lineage patriot, but no descendant is known at this time.
